What are the symptoms of black mold and what does it look like?

I have a wall in my basement that is completely saturated and has been gathering mold I guess. That is the kid

  • kids play area, I'm having the problem remedied, but am not sure if they could have already been hurt by the mold. How bad could they have been affected? WHat sort of thing should I look for in them. My son is allergic to penicillin so would I have noticed any symptoms in him? It could have been on the walls surface for a few months now and I'm wondering if it is really bad. Thanks in advance.

    Depends on the type of mold. If the mold was harmful you almost certainly would have noticed respiratory symptoms or congestion. In the meantime spray the walls with a bleach solution and then get the proper remediation done professionally as soon as you can.

Mold can cause a chronic cough with prolonged exposure. If your son is having cold-like symptoms that don't seem to go away, I recommend that you take him to a doctor. When in doubt, I think a doctor's appointment is a good idea. Breathing problems can often be detect by a simple breathing test (spirometry) that can be done in the doctor's office. I had one done last year and it cost $60 for the appointment and spirometry without insurance.
