Which is cheaper, Nasonex or Nasacort?

Does nasonex really work?

  • I am a 20 y/o male with nasal congestion problems. I have always had seasonal nasal congestion problems, but it would usually clear up after a few days with dayquil. Well while at work a few months back, my nose was severely plugged so I bought some OTC Nasal Spray. The stuff worked amazingly fast and lasted for hours. Well unfortunately, my body has become dependent on it. I tried it about 3 months ago, and now, I must take it every day just to breathe normally. I went to the doctor and he said I need to take Prednisone to get my body off the OTC stuff, and he also prescribed me Nasonex to use in place of the OTC Nose Spray. I just started taking the stuff but the Nasonex really does not seem to help very much. Should I give this stuff time or is my doctor correct about plan B.... surgery. He said if the prednisone and nasonex does not work within 2 weeks, I may need surgery since my Nasal tracts or something look terriable he said?

  • Answer:

What happened to you is very common-the OTC nasal sprays work so great they become indispensable, and then cause damage. Stay off them. Nasonex does take a while to get working, but hopefully it will help. Be patient, and good luck.

Give it a chance. It was good for me. The surgery is well worth it. With the new method, recovery is not bad at all. I would think about it seriously! Good Luck!
