Will my smoking show on a chest x-ray?

What does a smoker's chest xray look like?

• i recently went in to have a complete physical done at my primary care doctor's office. he is very thorough, does everything test wise at the office, which i like very much. results are also given at your visit, so there's no waiting x amount of days to find out anything. when he looked at my chest xray, the very first words he said were, "looks like someone is a very heavy smoker." of course, i had to tell him, that yes, i have been smoking alot. i've been seeing him for 3 years now, and he has never said anything like this about my chest xrays before, they've always been normal, is what i've been told, and i'm usually looking at them as he's going over all results with me. what would make this year's chest xray look different? can someone please tell me what he was seeing? thank you.

  No clear cut lines, no definition of the surrounding organs, like, heart/lungs...Muffled like, cloudy, overcast are the best descriptions.......Unlike a non smoker, Visually the heart outline is HIGHLY VISIBLE, same for LUNGS, light, airy, clean cut......Hope the doctors comments were enough to have you terminate the smokes that very same day. Better intake of oxygen to your organs including your skin and your appetite. Cosmetic wise, those fine lines on the upper lip perhaps are too embedded to remove now. It is still not too late to increase your life span by stopping of the smokes immediately. Your lngs and heart will thank you....Wonder what your dental state has undergone with the smoking over time. Ensure that you have a dental check up X2 year...All this for the good of good dental and physical health Best Wishes
