Will my smoking show on a chest x-ray?

I'm getting a chest x-ray and I've been smoking cigarettes for a little over three years. Will it show?

  • I've never been an exceptionally heavy smoker, especially at the beginning (took me roughly three weeks to get through a pack), but now I do about a pack about every ten days now. Just curious to see if it will show anything or not.

  • Answer:

it is unlikely to show any changes. Chest X Rays are not very sensitive in detecting changes.

If not this time maybe in years to come. Have you every seen Dr. OZ show lungs of smokers vs non smokers on his show? Pics include a smoker who only smoked one year. http://www.healingtalks.com/health/alternative-healing/detoxification-health/stop-smoking/pictures-of-smokers-and-non-smokers-lungs/
