Question about a blocked nose?

Nose damage from drugs, will it heal?

  • I've been a year and 2 months clean, there is no visible hole in my roof of mouth nor pain. However my left nostril is horrible, and always one is blocked. The mucus drips backwards down my throat continuously and I can't control mucus dripping down from my nose. Also I can't inhale from the nostril at all, and if I try it will just irritate it, with vibration. I can't smell anything what's so ever. I've quit cigarettes too, for about 6 months now. Well, my question is, will my nose heal? Somewhat get better? How bad have I damaged it? Will I be able to breath in from it freely and gain my smell back? Is there any hope of all those, its been over a year.

It depends on how far into the tissue the damage has gone. I've seen drug users who have completely deteriorated the septum of their noses and had no bone left. If it's been already over a year, it's unlikely that you will get back to normal. Your nose has already "healed" at this time. If you want 100% accurate answers, I would see a doctor so he/she would be able to tell you how bad of a damage you have and what's the likelihood of you getting your smell back.
