and sometimes get anxiety attacks, but today something happened for the first time. After the attack, I had an extremely dry dry dry mouth!! the anxiety attack, at least thats what i think it was....racing heart, shaky hands and legs, feeling like I was gonna pass out, die, have a heart attack, etc.....so the attack lasted long enough for me to run down 4 flights of stairs to my car....so do u think the dry mouth was caused by an anxiety attack? if so, why does this happen?? what about being tired after the attack? is that realated as well??

Answer:
many times something is totally overlooked in the case of panic attacks. "THE LIVER". liver panel tests do not always indicate a problem. my guess would to be directly test for antibodies for HCV infection (hepatitis c) many of those with HCV have normal enzymes, that is why the doctor doesn't run additional testing. you probably would need to ask the doctor to test you for antibodies for hcv. why i'm suggesting this is that your liver could have some damage and is not filtering toxins out of the body fast enough. not only does damage to the liver happen in those with hcv, but toxins and the virons will eventually make it's way past the blood brain barrier (BBB) and cause the chemicals to misfire in the brain, thus in return, causing a panic attack. I went many years with all sorts of symptoms and went undiagnosed because of my alt and ast enzymes in a liver panel test (blood test) were normal. there are many more out there that have no idea they are infected due to misdiagnosis simply because of the alt and ast levels. most also feel perfectly normal or feel healthy. i'd say an hcv test is in order. one in 12 people are infected and they do not know it. everyone has one risk factor for hcv infection but may not be aware of it. don't let the doctor dismiss the fact that you be tested either. if caught early enough the better chances of a sustained viral response. (most of us have been infected for decade (s) or more. as for the dry mouth, that is common after a panic attack, but i would say that would be the least of your worries. i would focus on why the panic attacks are happening. good luck!
