How much do nurses make in Scotland?

Do nurses make poor excuses for not changing there uniform after there shift are done , then go shopping?

  • come on now you have to admit there are a nurses who do it properly , and contain infections , but there are lots who just dont give a stuff , then moan about being underpaid , and before we get all tthe dogooders shouting about poor nurses , if you saw the average wage nurses make per year , you would not be shouting so loud , how do i know i do there yearly budgets , dont be fooled there not hard done by, this will get the comments coming in thick and fast i think, oh and can i say a big thank you too all nurses you are very much appreciated , dont take all this to heart it's only a debate

    I know you are trying to blame nurses for all the diseases out there, as you have asked many questions on this subject. Do you think that everyone who wears scrubs are nurses? There are many people who work in hospitals and clinics who are required to wear scrubs but do not come anywhere near people who are sick. Is it good pratice to wear your scrubs out after work? No it is not. Is it going to eliminate all sickness from being spread? Also no.

Hai Mark, This topic has been heavily discussed by everyone and significantly attracting public eyes nowadays. I do agree that some nurses make excuses. There should be a reason for it. Of course, I have. The NHS where I currently work does not have a changing facility for men and women due to poor funding. I am sure, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide the changing facility. Even, it has been highlighted for several times. Still we are looking for a response. In this situation, how can you expect a nurse to change his/her uniform prior leaving the ward/unit. Everyone is aware the growing concern on infections like MRSA, C.diff and VRE. We an not simply point out on nurses of their poor practice that results from a politics or a financial crisis. No nurses are happy to carry bugs to their home and giving to their kids. I can fully support your concern if nurses walk around the super markets in their uniform despite given the changing facility. In contrast, most of the wards or units provide a rest/changing facility for doctors/consultants. How come they got the financial support? You know Mark, the nurses are the weaker group in the health care field. (I am sorry to admit)Where ever you go, the status of nurses have not been improved despite their advanced role and implications in the health care field. I think, this has to be changed.

I see many many nurses around where i live and the students union getting fodd spilling it overthemselves etc not very hygenic at all. In saying that 2 of my aunts are nurses and change out of their clothes once they finish their shift and then they do whatever they need to.

Cmon changing out of their uniform is hardly going to stop the flu is it?! And are you sure this is just a debate about nurses and not care staff? They where simular uniforms too. Next time you've had a night shift got changed then pop into tesco for a pint a milk giv eyourself a pat on teh back.

ugh yeah i got neighbour who finishes work for school end time and still got uniform on in evening she even came rnd at 8 pm with it on once she got kids and cats and dogs,disgusting.

now i agree with you in saying that a nurse who deals with infectious diseases should NOT carry the viruses home in her scrubs and spread them around. that is unsanitary. BUT, nurses are most certainly underpaid! sure, we make alot of money year round, but did you ever take into consideration the amount of hours we work (12 hour shifts, six days a week, no vacations) the stuff we put up with, and all the dirty work we do. not to mention, the shortage of nurses so our work is double what it would be if we were adequately staffed. We do more work that the actual DOCTORS! and don't forget to factor in the amazing amount of work it takes in nursing school for us to even make it this far. the UNGODLY amount of money we spend while we are in nursing school on everything we have to have, and last but certainly not least, how much WE CARE ABOUT YOU! WE CARE! we care more than anyone about your well being! Now, see.. we do make alot of money, but not a fraction of the money that the job is actually worth Think about it. and I'm not whining, i am one of the happiest ladies on earth being a nurse, i do it because i care, not for the money

I agree with all your remarks . When i was a care assistant i had to change before work and afterwards for infection so why can't they. My mother was a nurse years ago and she says nurses have got it a lot easier nowadays. Yes they suffer abusive people but everybody does i'm afraid that is the tone of todays society . Tell me someone in any profession that doesn't come across aggression. Of course it is unacceptable but you just have to deal with it.
