Is bacterial gastro lethal?

Do I have gastro??

  • A month ago I started feeling sick in the stomach with shaking and sweating. It went away after a week, and I was also vomiting. After a week it came back but it's worse now i have abdominal pains, chest pains, diorreah sometimes, nausea 24/7 (no vomiting tho) and dizziness, back aches, headache...Ive been to the hospital last week and they say it could be gastro but if It persists or i vomit blood to go back. I saw a doctor and my blood is fine and I'm seeing him again in a couple of days. I'd like to know if this can be gastro because it's gone on a month now, if not what might it be?

  • Answer:

Gastroenteritis is inflammation of the GI tract. Your symptoms certainly match such a diagnosis, but what you want to know is the cause for the inflammation. Symptoms could also be gall bladder or appendix, but I'm sure they would have checked that at the hospital. Are you seeing a GI Doctor, or just your primary? If it is your primary, I would request a referral to a GI... Good luck!
