And i am currently working on a book about impact of HIV/AIDS around the world, what's being done to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and some discussion about celebrities/famous people that have died from this disease. and how is has impacted us. The impact of celebrities being reported as dying from HIV/AIDS is to distract the masses from paying attention to the science (or lack thereof) in investigating the HIV hypothesis. I'd suggest spending less attention on famous people, and more attention to the under-reported facts...

I know that Anna Nicole Smith died from a similar disease (or at least it was mentioned), it was called Lupus, it attacks the Immune System just like those diseases do, they act very similar except Lupus is not spreadable and you usually randomly get it. Here is somethign from a site: The immune system is designed to attack foreign substances in the body. If you have lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system and it attacks healthy cells and tissues. This can damage many parts of the body such as the: Joints Skin Kidneys Heart Lungs Blood vessels Brain. There are many kinds of lupus. The most common type, systemic lupus erythematosus, affects many parts of the body. Other types of lupus are: Discoid lupus erythematosus – causes a skin rash that doesn’t go away Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus – causes skin sores on parts of the body exposed to sun Drug-induced lupus – can be caused by medications Neonatal lupus – a rare type of lupus that affects newborns.

The first four that come to mind are Rock Hudson, Liberace, Arthur Ashe and Ray Sharkey. There are others, no doubt, and it is also possible that some celebs have passed from this disease but it was attributed to other causes because of the stigma attached.

Matt, I applaud you for researching this topic and writing a book. While celebrity deaths always catch the media spotlight, you need look no further than the everyday man, woman, or child infected with this disease to find the true face of HIV/AIDS. Invariably, any post of interest on HIV/AIDS brings out the conspiracy theorists who continue to spout the non-existence of this disease. To those of you that have posted in this question, I invite you to join the millions of us in this world that suffer from this supposedly non-existent retrovirus. For the record, I tested positive for HIV in the fall of 2004. Within two weeks I was hospitalized with pneumocystis carnii pneumonia (one of the 25 opportunistic infections that are used to diagnose AIDS). At that time I had a CD-4 (T-Cell) count of six (6). I had never taken any anti-retroviral (combo) therapy drugs. I am not a drug user, nor a promiscuous gay man. I was practicing safe-sex, and yet I still have AIDS. Without the combo therapy, I would not be alive today to rebuke these claims. And No - my combo does not contain AZT or a Protease Inhibitor. Yes, it has been proven that AZT is very toxic. This is why you rarely see it prescribed except in last ditch efforts because the virus has mutated and become resistant to other classes of medication. No ethical medical practitioner will prescribe AZT as a monotherapy either. Robert Gallo was not the only scientist to isolate the retrovirus. A team of French doctors also isolated the retrovirus. It was not named the Human Immunodeficiency Virus until after the legal debates between Gallo and the French doctors were resolved. Yes the retrovirus replicates by copying itself. HIV does this by attaching to CD-4 cells (the basis of our immune system) and rewriting the cell into an HIV cell. The very process it uses to replicate destroys the immune system. HIV/AIDS is not a gay disease, not a drug-users disease, it is a World disease. Each and every individual has the chance of contracting the disease if they have any type of sexual relations (regardless of the number of partners). It only takes one person to infect another. I am going to step down from the soap-box with one last statement. If you honestly believe that HIV/AIDS is a myth, that is fine. Bury your head in the sand like an ostrich, but don't continue to rattle off harmful theories that put people in danger. Unfortunately there are others out there that will be just as gullible as you were. Todd (AIDS - positive since 2004)
