What field would allow you to do research for diseases, illness's, and disorders?

• Hello, I have a keen interest in trying to finding cures or a much better way of treatment for all the various types of diseases, illiness's, and disorders. I want to like work in a setting that requires extensive amount of research to find all these cures or enhanced treatment methods and I was wondering if I went into the field of Pharmacy and obtained my Doctor of Pharmacy, M.S/Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences a person with all that be capable to go on to do research in a Lab setting and find cures and stuff? If not then what other ways are there? Thanks
