High lymphocytes and low neutrophils? Please explain what this could mean?

    Anonymous - A little explanation and/or clarification is needed for a valid "meaning." "High lymphocytes and low neutrophils" could mean either the "percentage" of each OR the "absolute number" of these two white blood cells in your circulating blood. Most times it refers to percentages which is the poorer choice. Most often there is a normal total WBC (white blood cell) count with a reduced number of neutrophils and some increase in lymphocytes as seen with a virus-type infection. What is important is the total WBC value and the absolute (total) number of lymphocytes. It may be a bit confusing but your MD should be able to understand and explain it.
