Having abdominal pain that stings at the belly button and lower right?
-
Hi, for the past 2 weeks, i've been having abdominal pain at the lower right. Not sure if this matters but it started happening after doing pushups (I exercise often). I admit that I have a bad habit of not inhaling and exhaling properly. The lower right would sting from time to time so I decided to read up on causes and appendicitis seems to have came up most often. From what I read, the doctor would check my urine and blood tests to see if anything was wrong. So I decided to go to the hospital, and they did exactly what I read about. The thing is that they said there was nothing wrong with my urine and blood at all. They gave me some meds to relieve stomache pain. Other than swelling and mild pain, I don't vomit, have urine pain, loss of appetite or have any other symptoms from what articles say about appendicitis (although I do feel weak, maybe due to me eating so little being afraid eating too much will make it worse). I can eat most things fine but I noticed that when I eat meat or drink soy milk, the pain starts to come back. The pain isn't severe but it's an annoyance and I don't really want to go back to my health diet and exercising until it's gone (if it's appendicitis then I'm afraid if I do anything too hard, it'll burst). Does anyone know what other causes might be if it's not appendicitis (unless you think it is?)? Also when I read up on appendicitis, people say they get severe pain, so I'm curious about what level of pain that is.

Answer:
It is unlikely that you have appendicitis, and more likely that you have either torn a muscle from exercising, or am developing a hernia. You should also not rule out an ulcer. I would suggest that you take better care exercising, start breathing properly when you do, and get a lot of fruits and fiber in your diet, being sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day (water-- juices and other liquids don't count, at least 6-8 glasses of water each day). If your pain persists, or gets worse at any time, see a doctor right away. Good luck.

Sounds like it could be a hernia - especially since it happened after exercising. I'd go to your family doctor instead of the hospital again so he/she can do a full work-up and exam to make sure it isn't something worse. Good luck!

It sounds like you might have torn a muscle in your abdomen or groin. This type of muscle tear stings and/or burns. I am assuming that the hospital would have detected a hernia if it were the cause. There is almost no way it could be appendicitis since 2 weeks have passed. Appendicitis advances very rapidly. Usually the pain usually becomes unbearable or the appendix bursts after 2-3 days.
