What are some symptoms for salmonella poisoning or is it contagious?

• I am doing are project to see why some kids on a virtual field trip are sick and are in the hospital for writing class for school.Their symptoms are nausea,vomiting,diarrhea, and abdominal cramps.It might be food poisoning,radiation,or gas fumes.I also think it might be transferred through the boys how held snakes touching the girls.I need to have evidence on how they got it too.I need to have this done by the week of memorial day.Please help me!

Gas fumes would likely have the fastest effect while food OR contaminated water would likely take a few hours after exposure, and radiation effect might take several days between exposure. At least 13 different organisms from snakes can infect humans. Some are caused by the following bacteria, microorganisms or parasites: E. coli, Proteus, Q Fever, and Salmonellosis - any of which the boys who touched snakes could have touched and passed on to the girls. Any still waters or streams from which anyone drank or swam in could also carry a couple of parasites, including the parasite Giardia lamblia which causes extensive diarrhea. Even the food brought along to eat could contained mayonnaise or had bacterial contamination of inadequately cooked E. coli bacteria in hamburger meat. Samples from these previously mentioned sources or from the stool (fecal diarrhea) could be submitted to a medical lab for bacterial culture identification or for parasites and ova examination. Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning may include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. They develop 12-72 hours after infection, and the illness usually lasts 4-7 days.
