What Is Swine Flu?

What is the difference between swine flu and a regular flu?

  • Okay, everyone is getting worked up about the swine flu, and some people are saying it's going to become a worldwide pandemic. But what are the differences between swine flu and any old flu? Like, who it effects, mortality rates, etc. I just wanna know, because nobody can seem to tell me the answer, they just say its either gonna kill us, or start presenting facts that 36,000 americans die each year of flu. So, anyone who can shed light on this for me is greatly appreciated.

  • Answer:

It's just like the regular flu (chills, aches, sore throat, cough, upset stomach, vomiting, etc) except it is a mutated virus from pigs, bird, and human strains. So far most people have recovered from the swine flu in the United States but i can't give you the exact number of cases because they seem to be changing whenever you change the channel. I'm sure most people in Mexico only died because they got poor treatment or didn't catch it in time. Basically you have a better chance of dying in a car crash than catching the swine flu and dying from that. You should take the regular precautions like washing your hands and staying away from the sick. And don't worry about the media, all they're good for is fear mongering.

I think that a lot of people are overreacting about the swine flu. I think that the difference between this and a regular flu is that his flu seems to have originated from pigs.

i don't think anything. It seems to be spreading more but media makes it out to be like the worst thing that has ever happened. NEVER BUY INTO WHAT THE NEWS SAYS

RIPBRAD

- headache - tiredness - chills - aching muscles - limb or joint pain - diarrhoea or stomach upset - sore throat - runny nose - sneezing - loss of appetite

like everyone is saying, its not a big of deal as the tv makes it seem. You probably are thinking "then why are such drastic measures being taken?" The reason why its such a big deal its because its a new flu thats infecting people. It has infected humans before, but not like it is now. It is just like the flu, except we have no immunity to it, or so they know so far. They are still researching wheter any human has had immunity to it yet. That is the reason why so many schools are being closed and so on, because we arent immune to swine. But that doesnt mean its going to kill you, there is treatment ofcourse.

Swine flu is a profit party for news networks, its basically the same as seasonal flu. See 1976 swine flu outbreak, low mortality rate and the vaccine had a much higher mortality rate than the disease.

here's what i've heard. flu (i'm guessin it's the flu that kills you.. auviously) but then i heard that with the swine flu, it isn't the actual flu that kills you. it uses your immune system to kill you. if this is true then i dont see the point in making a vaccine lol. the only thing it'll do is cure some of the symptoms, but if it uses your immune system to kill you, and it isn't the flu it's self, then how would killing off a stuffy nose stop it from using you to kill your self. (just thinking and typing) lol. i just don't get it

swine flu is just another stran of the flu that developed in pigs and got passed on to humans. not all strans of the swine flu are deadly. the media has over exagerated the whole swine flu thing.. and as you rightly said the flu does kill hundreds of thousands of people a year.... calm down everyone!
