How can I prevent the flu?

How can I prevent from getting the flu?

  • My cousin woke up and threw up this morning. She went home early as well. But I didnt wake up till she was gone. So sins I was in contact with her and shoulder to shoulder but i didnt share anything she used etc. I REALLY hope I don't get the flu. Puking is one of my fear. Is the stomach flu airborne? If so is there a way I can make my immunity go up so I can have a miracle of not getting it?

  • Answer:

Vomiting is NOT a symptom of influenza. So, even if you got vaccinated against it, you wouldn't be immune of this, since the vaccine only covers the flu. Wash your hands a lot, avoid touching your face, and make sure she breathes somewhere else but on you, and covers her mouth with her sleeve or a kleenex when she coughs or sneezes, are good ways to try to keep from getting sick. HOWEVER, you slept in the same room as her, breathing her germs all night... you were probably already exposed. Some people swear that taking mega doses of vitamin C works, and also say airborn (an over the counter immunity booster) works. Good luck...

Did you get your flu shot? The flu can be transmitted from the things she touched so even if she didn't use it, the virus may be on things she's touched etc. The only real thing you can do is to keep yourself healthy and hygenic. If you had the influenza shot, you should be alright. If you're perfectly healthy your immune system has a better chance of fighting it off as well.

If you haven't had a flu shot, the best thing you can do is wash everything in your house thoroughly including the bedding she slept on. Everything she touched whether she used it or not has the virus on it. Make sure you wash your hands well with warm soapy water. Drink fluids and get plenty of rest.

Yes it's airborne. If she does have something contagious it is important for you to avoid contact and try to stay hydrated. Wash your hands often and get plenty of rest.
