Sodium is not good for high blood pressure. Artificial sweetener contain sodium. Is an artificial sweetener really harmful to my blood pressure?

  • Answer:

There is not enough in them to make any appreciable difference either way. I applaud your attempt to lose weight, which may make control easier, but you will need to make many more dietary changes and take some vigorous exercise as as well in order to make any really useful contribution.

That small change is unlikely to make much difference to your blood pressure. You need to change the rest of your diet too and combine that with exercise. In clinical trials, reducing sodium in the diet shows better results when it's reduced to 3g daily.

artificial sweetners are bad news, I suggest you exercise could you try powerwalking in your neighbourhood then gradually turn it into a light jog for 20 minutes three times a week ? The worst case scenario for high blood pressure is that a blood vessel will burst - vitamin E can clear up junk in blood vessels allowing blood to flow freely so I would reccomend it but it has to be a natural one. You say you are overweight but you need to feel full, a high vegetable protein, low fat diet may suit you.Have you tried honey in your tea? Are you Indian? Your name suggests it, only ghee is very harmful to your health it is super hydrogenated fat and is lethal even in small doses.

Natural sugar substitutes is preferable to artificial sugar substitutes. The DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) is a diet promoted by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (part of the NIH, a United States government organisation) to control hypertension. A major feature of the plan is limiting intake of sodium, and it also generally encourages the consumption of nuts, whole grains, fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables while lowering the consumption of red meats, sweets, and sugar. It is also "rich in potassium, magnesium, and calcium, as well as protein and fiber."

Please note that the cause of your high blood pressure lies some where else and not just with the consumption or not consuming of artificial sweeteners. The sodium you seem to talk about in these sweeteners are also negligible and no way threat to your condition. Consuming normal sugars however does affect your blood pressure indirectly. Please also learn about the side effects of artificial sweeteners before using them. Good luck !!!

NO! Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners are neurotoxins. The laboratory research on rats show brain lesions. Some researcher suggest that artificial sweeteners may be a slow acting toxin that causes Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's diseases. DASH is US government sponsored research. Sadly, the US government sponsored studies are not a reliable source of nutrition information. DASH supports the idea of including dairy, but dairy in the US most often contains genetically modified bovine growth hormone and antibiotics. Leafy green vegetables are a better source of calcium. If you are interested in controlling blood pressure, look into the scientific research provided by Dr. Dean Ornish. My personal recommendation is weight control, aerobic exercise, and a low-fat low carb vegan diet. By all means avoid excitotoxins like MSG and aspartame. MSG is added to the diets of rats to study fat rats. MSG and other excitotoxins makes them fat. They are dangerous to your health. Excitotoxins will contribute to your weight and increase your blood pressure. Beware corporate propaganda.
