What exactly do cholesterol levels mean?

If my total Cholesterol Levels are 100, How many milligrams of cholesterol would my liver produce everyday?

  • If my total cholesterol levels are about 100, then how many milligrams of cholesterol would my liver be producing each day? I know most peoples liver's produce about 1,000 milligrams a day, but total cholesterol levels are measured from 300 to 200- to below 100. I don't think that's in milligrams. is the 100-300 total cholesterol levels just considered "Excess" cholesterol (Additional cholesterol that the liver can't filter out and get rid of properly)? I know it varies day to day, but they say the average person's liver produces about 1,000 milligrams of cholesterol per day. So if my cholesterol test showed a total cholesterol level of about 100, then how many milligrams of cholesterol would my liver be producing on average per day? I mean, somehow I need to convert into milligrams , whatever the Total cholesterol test gives as a total cholesterol number (when doctors measure your cholesterol levels, the number is in "milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL )
