Chest pain while on birth control?

Ortho Tri Cyclen LO. Has anyone else experienced chest and or heart pain on this Birth control pill?

• I recently switched from one birth control pill to another (Ortho Tri Cyclen LO). After 2 days of taking it, my chest/heart was throbbing with pain and my heart was palpitating. Not thinking it could be my birth control I continued to take it for the next 3 weeks, in which I visited the ER 3 times, because I thought something was seriously wrong. After all tests come out normal (no blood clots abnormalities or heart attacks) I decided to go OFF the birth control in case that might be the cause. After 2 weeks off Ortho Tri Cyclen LO, the symptoms have dramatically improved. (although vaguely still there). Has any other female experienced this very strange side possible effect? (PS - This was NOT anxiety)

  Chest discomfort is not a typical side effect of Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. Medications effect people differently though. It is likely that your symptoms were related to this BCP since the symptoms developed after starting and resolved after discontinuing. You should discuss with your doctor alternative BCP, which will hopefully not have the same side effects. Good luck.
