Can a barium swallow test cause a run of palpitations?
-
I had a barium swallow test to check for hiatal hernia. Although I have had heart palps before they have been just a few second run of them. I woke up at 2 in the morning after having that test and a run of palps. But this time they didnt stop. I ended up going to the ER, they admitted me and I had them for 48 hours straight. They loaded me up with Xanax every few hours, but that didnt stop them. Then finally they stopped. I was sent home saying it was anxiety. I just want to know why it happend for that long? I mean I have delt with the palps for 20 years and never had them last more that just a few seconds at time. Was just wondering if the test had anything to do with it?

barium meal may not produce such a prolonged palpitation, an ecg would've provided more information.
