Why is my heart always beating so hard and fast?

Why is my heart beating so hard/fast?

  • I'm 17 years old, and I'm of normal weight... I eat healthy with the occasional junk food here or there. During the summer I'd go biking 1 to 3 times a week, but now that it's getting colder I haven't really been keeping up with it lately. I don't know when this first started, I think a month or two ago? It's not necessarily a hard pounding in my chest, it's more in my neck... the spot you use to check your pulse and all that. I feel a pounding and I can actually hear it. And then it feels like it's going a lot faster than it should be. I do have a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure, so I'm a little worried. Should I be concerned and go to the doctor?

  • Answer:

did you have anything with caffeine in it? or take any medications recently that might make your heart rate increase? I would go to doctor to make sure, better safe than sorry, but I was getting heart palpitations, and a lump in my throat, I would feel really sick and like my heart was going to jump out of my chest so I went to the er and they said I was having a panic attack. It was really scary, so my question is have you been stressed lately? Are you nervous about anything? And caffeine always brings them on for me, not to say that this is your problem, but it may be, I would go to dr. asap to make sure that it's nothing serious
