Increased risk of heart attack with regular heart murmur?
-
I have had a heart murmur from birth. Doctors have said I have nothing to ever worry about and I am on no medication for it. However, will my murmur increase my risk of a heart attack later on in life? For example - If I ate a lot of trans-fatty foods for many years, will my risk of heart attack be greater then a person exactly identical to me with similar eating habits but with a normal heart?

A murmur is just a "noise" that the valves of your heart makes when they open and close. If your doctor says there is nothing to worry about, then there is nothing to worry about. A murmur does not increase your risk of any heart attack. Weight gain, inactivity, diet contribute to heart attacks.
