Is it ok to use St. johns wart after a catheter oblation due to wolfe parkinson white?
-
my fiance recently had a catheter oblation to fix his heart arrhythmia's that were do to WPW or wolfe parkinson white. is it ok for him to use st. johns wart?

Answer:
Probably not. St. John's Wort is a potent inducer of CYP3A4 - what this means is that it has dangerous interactions with about half the medications presently in use. Your fiance is probably on blood thinners after such a surgery, and messing with these drugs could be catastrophic. You could of course, double check with the physician that performed the surgery. This would in any case be the best course of action.
