What is cerebral stroke?

What are the causes of Stroke?

  • I have a family member that died a couple of years ago due to complication with a stroke. It has been five years since she died but the rest of the family believes that she died as a result of her husband constantly aggravate her about anything from money to cheating with other women. I have done research on the issue and can't really find the correlation of aggravation and stroke. I know by definition that a stroke is "a condition where a blood clot or ruptured artery or blood vessel interrupts blood flow to an area of the brain" and I also know that The two main types of stroke are " ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke" But can can aggravation cause a women to have a stroke. I can't find the answer to that. Can someone please help me?

  • Answer:

That is a common myth and really just an old wives tale. You are correct in both your definition, and main stroke types. The basics: All cells need nutrients to survive. Some need various different nutrients, but you can count on oxygen and glucose(sugar). As blood travels into your heart it pumps first out to your lungs where it picks up oxygen molecules which bind to hemobglobin in the red blood cells to make oxyhemoglobin and dumps C02 into the lung to be blown out of the body. The blood then is pulled from the lungs back into the heart where it is forcefully pumped out to the body in all directions. The freshly oxygenated blood is then pushed through smaller and smaller vessels until theyt are in capillaries as small as the blood cells themselves. At this point the oxygen transfers to the cell of the body to be used as energy, and picks up the C02 that is the byproduct of the cell burning the oxygen, to carry it back to the lungs. Similar happens with other nutrients that are picked up by the red blood cells at the intestines, then carried to the body cells for energy, waste is picked up and dropped at the liver and kidneys. If the oxygen or C02 % in the blood gets too low, the hypoxic drive in the brain causes you to breath more to either take in more 02 or blow off more C02. If glucose gets too low, your cells burn otyher things for fuel, like fats stores, or protiens. If a cell cannot get oxygen, it goes into shock, causing instant blood flow to the cell. If it cannot get blood it dies. SO in a stroke, blood flow is cut off from brain cells causing brain cells to die, and if a portion of the brain dies, the corresponding function is destroyed. Blood clots can form anywhere in the body. If the clot breaks loose from its location, it can flow anywhere the blood takes it. Most commonly it will land in the heart or lungs, causing a heart attack or pulmonary embolism. But occasionally the clot makes it to the brain, like if it forms there, or in the heart(Atrial fibrilation or false valses are a common cause) If the clot blocks blood flow to a portion of the brain, it can die very fast (under 10min) That is called an embolic or ischemic stroke. Sometimes head trauma or a broken blood vessel causes bleeding into the skull from the brain. This either takes blood from the brain, or causes so much intercranial pressure that bloodflow is blocked from the swelling, but the result is the same. Brain death. Can Stress cause this, Nobody knows for sure. But it seems highly unlikely, and more than likely not possible. Stress can cause a ton of other physical problems, but a stroke? doubtful.
