This sounds like a damned if you do, damned if you don't resolution. Clogged arteries, or Arteriosclerosis (a build up of fatty plaque that constricts or narrow the arteries) left untreated, (total blocking of the artery) will cause, a heart attack, and or a stroke and that person will die. Being that it's a 50/50 chance either way. I'm wondering, how many doctors' opinion, did you seek on this? Generally, people with the risk of heart attacks are generally put on thinners. Blood thinner, keep the body from clotting. But, it also makes you susceptible to bleeding and not being able to heal properly. Arteries, are the main veins that transport oxygenated blood away from the heart, to all the major organs. If they are clogged, doctors will usually perform bypass surgery unless, she has a problem with say, 'High blood pressure.' Being that the clogging is extensive, (from the kidneys' to the heart) I'm guessing that is not possible at this time. Although surgery can be dangerous, tell your wife don't put on her black dress just yet. If your not happy with the care and recommendations of your doctor(s), you do have the right to seek the counsel of another doctor. I would check into that if I were you. In order to make informed decision you should know All your options... Good Luck & God Bless

First of all, good for you being there for your wife. Atherosclerosis is the narrowing and hardening of the arteries in the heart due to a material called plaque. Atherosclerosis in the early stages can be treated by medicine that is supposed to reduce the amount of plaque in the artery. If left untreated this plaque will continue to build until the patient has a heart attack.

when you don't treat a clogged artery.. you have a heart attack. Your wife's grandmother should definately have it treated. If it isn't, things will be worse. good luck, i hope everything goes ok.

well, when you have a clogged artery or one that is going to be clogged you will have a high chance of getting a stroke. the more strokes you have the worse it is for the person. Many complications can happen if you even just get one stroke. they probably dont want to treat it until it gets farther up. best of luck. be strong too.
