What can happen if your blood pressure gets too high?
-
Let's say, hypothetically speaking, you get high blood pressure readings while checking your blood pressure. What can happen to you and your body as a result? Can you get a heart attack? Can it lead to death/coma? i'm not asking for myself, but for someone i know who consistently has bad blood pressure readings in the high area.

Answer:
Hypertension is a risk factor for all clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis since it is a risk factor for atherosclerosis itself. It is an independent predisposing factor for heart failure, coronary artery disease, stroke, renal disease, and peripheral arterial disease. It is the most important risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, in industrialized countries.

Untreated high blood pressure (called hypertension) can lead to many undesirable results. The most serious are blindness, heart attacks, strokes, and kidney disease. Current definition of high blood pressure is systolic of equal or greater than 140 and/or a diastolic of equal or greater than 90. It's best to consult a medical doctor when your BP readings are consistently high.

look up "hypertension" It can lead to heart disease, kidney disease, and potentially stroke. Your friend should get to the doctor to get tested and treated. The cheapest ways to reduce blood pressure are to eat a healthy, low salt diet and exercise regularly. There are also lots of anti-hypertensive medications available so he should see his doc to pick the right one.
