Anxiety attack?

Can you have an anxiety attack, when you don't feel stressed, and actually feel elated? In my previous question some people mentioned that I could be experiencing an anxiety attack, since I just had a baby (4 months ago) and the stress that comes with that. I was walking with my daughter, I felt really good, healthy, happy, and really in the zone. I had stress all week, this was my relaxation time. So my question, can you experience an anxiety attack when you are really in a good mood? Any experiences??? If you have had one please describe in full detail. Thanks so much!

Answer:
Anxiety Attack is a normal physiological reaction to stress. It helps one deal with tense situations such as yours (just had a baby). In general, it helps one cope. However, when anxiety becomes excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, it will become a disabling disorder. So if your not stress its unlikely for you to have anxiety attack.. Have you heard of of the following... Post partum blues (baby blues) is a common occurrence. Mild and rapid mood swings including episodes of sadness, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, tearfulness and crying spells characterize post partum blues. Baby blues usually occurs right after delivery and for no longer than about two weeks. The symptoms generally do not cripple a new mother's day to day activities. Post partum blues are conservatively managed. Having someone else care for the baby at night to allow for adequate sleep, ensuring adequate family support, and giving encouragement and reassurance are often successful ways to manage post partum blues. Watch out: If post partum blues is not managed it can lead to: Post-partum depression presents itself much like regular clinical depression. The only difference is that post-partum depression seems to be brought on by the trigger of childbirth. Symptoms may not start right after delivery, but will last much longer than two weeks. The symptoms will also be much more severe and may render the mother incapable of having good quality of life as a new mother.

Panic attacks are typically triggered by any type of stress. It could be something really simple or something huge. Symptoms of panic attacks may include: -trembling -shortness of breath -heart palpitations -chest pain (or chest tightness) -sweating -nausea -dizziness (or slight vertigo) -light-headedness -hyperventilation -paresthesias (tingling sensations) -sensations of choking If you aren't sure what happened it might not be bad to talk to your physician or psychiatrist. Both are qualified to run medical tests and send you to the proper medical professional, if necessary. Oh, and have I had one? Yes. The average person will experience 1, 2 or even 3 panic attacks in their lifetime.

Yeah i used to have them. my reasons are different. it was for my final exams which i flunked in -.- . i haven't had enough sleep and drank caffeine drinks then went to check my grades. as u already know, i failed. so i started thinking and felt so bad and depressed. this is all in one day. :P the next day i woke up in the morning all alert and anxious, it wasnt an anxiety attack, but palpitations where ure heart pumps irregularly. anyways mine were almost 1 day long.the doctor told me to stay away from caffeine dont smoke and excercise. in the later days before i exercised, i sometimes wake up all anxious and my stomach feels weird, and start sweating. the reasons maybe because of the lack of excercise, smoking, drinking, maybe you think alot about ure baby.

G'day Divinity, I am not sure of your usual patterns of mood etc so this advice may not be relevant. I know for me I can feel fantastic then wammo I get all agitated and confused. Whilst it maybe a one off just watch your moods over time and you'll soon see if a pattern exists or not. You may just have had an adjustment physiologically, especially after bub. If its your first child then emotionally that can trigger all sorts of responses whether or not you are conscious of them or not. If it continues maybe have a look at some natural herbal formulas and if it persists see your doctor. Most importantly don't be alarmed. If you want some more info on a popular herbal treatment you can get some informal info at my blog www.anxius-nomore.com My problem was far worse than your one episode so I need it. You hopefully won't. All the best and enjoy your child Dane

Yes, you can. Go to http://www.mayoclinic.com/ and you can look up any condition you need to.. Anxiety is on there also. By the way you answered a question asked by Naseldrip (that's the dudes name) and he asked why fat women put skinny pictures on here... He is a idiot, he thought mine was fake and it wasn't. You don't look fat and you are very pretty (I'm not coming on to you don't worry) Just ignore him he probably can't get a girlfriend and he wants to take it out on the world..

Their doesn't need to be a reason for these attacks. You need to go to your doctor and find out what is going on.

You know I was having a racing heart beat. My heart would go from 75 beats per minute to 200 beats per minute in a second and they kept telling me I was having panic (anxiety) attacs. I would be sitting around doing nothing and totally not stressed and all the sudden my heart would take off. The physicians told me in the ER I was having an anxiety attac. Finally, I ended up going to a heart specialist who told me I had a heart problem called AV node re entry. and fixed it. Thank goodness.
