Is it normal to have bad gas after heart attack?

Is this gas or a heart attack?

  • yesterday had a terrible pain right where my heart is, i tried to burp and it helped but about 9:30 last night it came back. i drank some sprite nd burped and it felt better. now it's back again it just woke me up i held my chestwhere it hurt and it was cold sweat but nowhere else other than right over my breastplate. im farting up a storm and burping and its not helping this time at least not yet. as i type this i can hear my body swishing things around inside me. i wanted to make sure if it was a heart attack or just gas beccasue i have no insurance

Approximately one quarter of all myocardial infarctions are "silent", without chest pain or other symptoms.

What the H did you eat ? It sounds like gas. Are you dizzy ? short of breath ? left arm hurt ? A hot warm feeling throughout your body A buzzing sound in your ears. not all chest pains are heart pains and the younger you are the less likely it is to be your heart. While an EKG or cardiogram can detect heart attacks it also misses a fair number as well. The typical crushing chest pain radiating to your left arm and neck we here about does not happen that often and should never be ignored but a large number of heart attacks have atypical pain patterns or no pain at all. Could your pain be "gas", sure it could. There is a condition called reflux or GERD that mimics the symptoms you describe and is treated differently than "heart" pain. Usually an antacid helps also remembering to avoid late night meals close to bedtime, reducing late nite caffeine ingestion go a long way at reducing these attacks. Sometimes doctors suggest medications such as tagamet, zantac or prilosec (there are others as well) which are available without a prescription. As always, use good judgment and when in doubt seek the care of a health care professional as I would if these symptoms persist. Be well.
