Do you think a 19 year old could have a heart attack?
-
Lately I've been so stressed and been taking anti-depressants. My heart rate is extremly high, my mom heard it once and got nervous for me. Do you think I could die from a heart attack at such a young age? I could feel my heart hurting as well. My anxiety is through the roof almost 24/7, and I'm usually just at home?

Answer:
Technically, it's possible for you to have a heart attack, like if you are doing drugs or if you have an undiagnosed congenital heart condition...(extraordinarily unlikely). By the age of 19, most congenital problems have been found and treated. If you are doing any drugs at all, stop now, as you can drop over dead at any minute. It sounds to me like you are suffering from anxiety, and this is the cause of your increased heart rate, but I cannot diagnose you...especially online. You need to go to a doctor and be medically evaluated. Depression and anxiety go hand in hand in a lot of people. Better to get to the bottom of this now, before it develops into full blown panic attacks. Good luck.

Its highly unlikely... you sound just like me kid- i am 25 years old. my symptoms started just the same as yours when i was in high school. a panic attack will raise your heart rate and blood pressure, cause chest pain and other scary feelings. go to the dr and get a good check up though to rule out anything else. also are your anti depressants prescribed to you by your dr. because if you take someone else's you can have a bad reaction like you are describing. certain anti-depressants have side efffects like increased blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety. which is why i dont see why they give them to people with anxiety in the first place...but dont get me started on that. when you feel bad go tell your mom. maybe go to the local pharmacy and check your blood pressure. and make an appt with your dr soon! in the mean time when your chest hurts, go lay down- take slow deep breaths, think happy thoughts, and dont be afraid. pray if you have too (if you do) or say the alphabet-distract your self. your mind has controll over these symptoms caused by anxiety. your adrenaline glands are overreacting because you are scared. you'll be ok :)
