What would prevent a DoS attack?

If you are having early warning signs a few weeks before a heart attack, is it possible to prevent it?

  • I'm not saying I'm going to have a heart attack, I'm just curious, though. The last time I had my heart thoroughly checked was like 1 1/2 years ago when I was pregnant and having heart palpitations, but it was nothing, just anxiety. Many tests were done and my heart was looked at and I was told it looked perfectly fine. The past month or so (and I have gained about 30 lbs, yikes), I have sometimes been feeling blah and...I guess uncomfortable. I suspect it's from the weight gain. A few times though I have felt a little ache in my chest, sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other. I just started thinking about it and it got me scared that I might have a heart attack or something..I'm 22, I don't want to die because I'm not living a healthy life. So about 3 days ago, I quit smoking cold turkey and have cut out all the sugar and fat from my diet, eating lots of fruits and vegetables and riding my bike 45 minutes per day. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, if those little aches in my chest were early warning signs of a future heart attack, am I working against it by exercising and eating right? I have been more stressed since I've not had a cigarette in the past 3 days, I'm not sure if that increases my risk or not..does anyone know? Once you've had any early warning signs of an impending heart attack, can you prevent it from happening with diet and exercise?

Ok the first thing that needs to be said is that, if ever you have any kind of chest pain or discomfort, you should have it checked out because although statistically unlikely to be anything serious, it is just too dangerous to ignore the possibility. 2nd thing, good on you for quitting smoking, whether you have heart problems or not, that is a good idea. Especially if you happen to be on the birth control pill, as smoking can further increase your risk of having clots. I have never smoked, and I am quite slim and fit, but I have had chest pains forever. I have been diagnosed with SVT (which is where my heart sometimes gets stuck beating at 150-180 bpm) but I can control it without medication and it doesn't really impact on my life. I have had many tests done on my heart, including ecgs and ultrasounds, and all have come back saying my heart is perfect, except for when it's having an SVT attack. But still I have random chest pains, as well as pain in my arms, back behind my heart, sometimes my neck etc. According to my doctor, these are nothing to worry about. Combination of muscle pains, stress, tissue in awkward positions etc. So there is every chance that yours aren't anything to worry about either, as chest pains can be caused by so many different things. A heart attack is typically caused by a blockage in a vessel. This can not be alleviated by exercise or dieting, the blockages take months of abuse to develop - bad cholesterol etc and can not be undone immediately. The above poster is right, exercise will actually put you at additional risk if this is the case. But the dieting is a great idea, it's good for you overall, and additionally, if you do have a blockage and require surgery, being overweight can increase your chance for complications. Being 22 and female puts you in the super low risk category for heart attacks - like, almost unheard of, but that said, I would still advise that you see a doctor, because as previously stated, the potential, however unlikely consequences aren't worth the risk.

Diet and exercise do not help in preventing an impending heart attack. In fact, if you have impending signs of heart attack and you exercise, that is surest way to convert into a frank heart attack. But, yes, if you have early signs of heart attack which is confirmed by angiography, you can prevent the heart attack by getting angioplasty or CABG. Diet and exercise have long term heart benefits and are not panacea in the short term,
