Why are my triglycerides so high?

• I recently had a physical and blood work etc. My blood pressure was slightly high and the results of blood work shocked me. Apparently the normal level should be no more than 150 for triglycerides (I didn't know what they were until this test) but mine are over 700. I'm a 35 year old vegetarian male, i'm not the healthiest man alive but i didn't think it was that bad. I go swimming and eat salad every day. I do like a beer on a Friday and i smoke cigars (not anymore) A silly add on question, can face and skin creams absorb into the blood?
