What does it mean to have kidney function a little high?

Blood test, kidney and blood pressure?

  • Kidneys, blood test, and blood pressure? How are these tests related to weightlifting? I lift weights seriously and enjoy it very much. Though I have recently gotten sick, my kidney doesn't function very well and I don't have the best blood (don't know what is wrong with it) my blood test improved a little so I did not get put to hospital (I heard it was lack of electrolytes, whether this was fixed or something else I don't know). I went to 4 or 5 doctors and there wasn't one doctor. Zero. None. Who wouldn't say something bad (I mean like it kills people, that's how bad they talk about it) about me using protein powder. Why is it so bad? I used a simple whey protein concentrate with no additives. Now I'm forbidden to eat any protein food except beef and do anything related to weightlifting. Why is that? I hate doctors and I believe they have been brainwashed by the government to learn some fake stuff which actually kills us, not like it's their fault anyway... ^ and I'm serious about it. That's why HIV still ''causes'' aids and cancer is *cough* ''healed'' *cough* with radiation therapies and stuff like that.... The only reason why I'm going to ******* listen to this doc is because I don't ******* want to be put in hospital or let my grandma commit suicide if I refuse to go to hospital.

Your problem is that you are overloading your kidneys with the protein powder. Your kidneys are responsible for cleaning your blood and flushing out the things you don't need. Your electrolyte imbalance is what they are talking about when they say your blood is 'bad'. The human body is designed to operate on a balanced diet. You need sufficient water (plain water not sports drinks) and enough protein to grow and repair muscles, skin and hair, but like anything, if you overdose yourself on protein your body has to get rid of it and you are putting the load on your kidneys. The heavy kidney load is also causing your high blood pressure because your kidneys are having trouble getting rid of the extra salts ... potassium, calcium, sodium, chlorides ... those are your electrolytes. In order for nutrition to move from your blood into your organs those need to be in balance. Do what your doctor says because yes, unbalanced electrolytes can kill you. I've seen it happen and it is the cause of death in many anorexics. Do some research of your own on reliable sites like Mayo Clinic or even Wikipedia and read up on how much protein, how many carbs, how much water and how many vitamins your body needs each day to function properly. Overdoing anything will cause your body problems. When you're able to get your kidneys well they will probably let you start weight training again. By the way, Human Immune Virus does cause AIDS. It's a virus (like a cold) that attacks the blood cells that fight infections. And radiation can kill cancer because at the prescribed dosages it kills fast growing cells (like hair, white blood cells and cancer) while leaving the other cells intact. It sounds like you need to educate yourself with some reliable science. ginny I

Electrolytes play a vital role in maintaining homeostasis within the body. They help to regulate myocardial and neurological function, fluid balance, oxygen delivery, acid-base balance and much more. Electrolyte imbalances can develop by the following mechanisms: excessive ingestion; diminished elimination of an electrolyte; diminished ingestion or excessive elimination of an electrolyte. The most common cause of electrolyte disturbances is renal failure.

I would think someone who is serious about a sport wouldn't just engage in it without learning what it does to you. Weightlifting can cause short spikes (and some not so short) in your blood pressure. High blood pressure just kills your kidneys. Your doctor is trying to keep you alive, despite your best efforts. At a minimum, hit up Google for some answers and info.

OK, calm down. The reason you've been restricted from eating protein-rich foods is because your kidneys *cannot* handle them. The kidneys filter "bad stuff" in the blood. And proteins are large particles in the blood, that the kidneys have trouble filtering when they are not working efficiently. If you keep eating protein, they will continue to fail and you WILL end up on dialysis. END OF STORY. Please read up on kidney failure. I'm sure they've done some blood work, so learn what your BUN and Creatinine are, as those are very important. Please work closely with your Renal Doctor (Nephrologist). He/She is only trying to keep you alive, and off dialysis.
