I'm afraid of the blood pressure thing, therefore giving me a false high blood pressure?

Hi! This is going to sound a tiny bit ridiculous, but I panic every time I see the thing that you measure blood pressure with. That is why, during AP bio, when we had to test our blood pressure, I came out with 146 over 80. I'm a VERY health person.. I don't eat any junk food, fast food, sweets, drink soda, or anything. I'm 17, 5'1", about 100 lbs..and I run. There is no health reason I can possibly think of that would bring me high blood pressure. However, starting about a year ago, I've started PANICKING whenever I see the thing that measures it. Therefore, the last two times I've had my blood pressure taken, it's been high. Before I started having this "fear", my blood pressure was always perfect. So; 1. Do you think I can definitely assume it's a false high blood pressure? 2. What do I do to calm the heck down?! Thanks so much!

Answer:
Check your B/P on your own a few different times. When you are calm. A lot of drug stores have a machine. Not always real accurate but helpful in a pinch. You stated the reasons for the higher readings. So I won't go in to those. I wouldn't be to worried about it at this time. Take care

"There is no health reason I can possibly think of that would bring me high blood pressure." Not even genetic? "Do you think I can definitely assume it's a false high blood pressure?" A tricky question. You should get your BP checked with the manual one, not the digital. There should be a period of rest between activity and measuring. Not talking, coughing, etc when measuring is taken place. You should be healthy to get your normal BP, meaning your BP when you got a flu might be different when you are healthy. The checking device should be at the sae level with your heart. Etc.... "What do I do to calm the heck down?!" Rest, or simply perform a BP check every 3 minutes and do it until you calm. Also, the device may simply broken or you are really have high BP.
