Could this pain be heart related?

Having pain, possibly heart related?

  • About 5 days ago, i started having pain in my neck, shoulders, and chest area. It comes and goes, usually only at one area at a time. Yesterday, my left arm felt tingly all day and my neck hurt. Today, my back has hurt and sometimes when i take a deep breath, my chest hurts a little (right on my sternum). It is worse when i am sitting down, if i am up walking around it doesn't bother me much. I took advil today for the back pain, and it helped a lot, but it came back this evening and is worse than before. I only have the pain in my chest if i am sitting down and taking a deep breath. I am 31 years old, about 50 pounds overweight, and i don't always eat very healthy. I do exercise every day. At first, i thought it was pulled muscles from picking up my 40lb child, but now i'm not so sure. I haven't had all of the heart attack symptoms particular to women, but considering i've had neck, shoulder, back, and chest pains off an on for 5 days, i'm obviously concerned.

  • Answer:

You need to go to a Family Practice doctor or an Internal Medicine Doctor and have an EKG run. That EKG will basically tell you whether or not you are at risk right now for a heart attack. Dont delay. I have a friend about 50years old who delayed and later had a stroke. What was wrong is she had Atrial Fibrillation, a condition in which a plug or clot can form in the second chamber of the heart and head directly to the brain. Unfortunately, she did noting when symptoms occurred, she had a stroke that left her in rehabilitation for over a year and is still not over it. All this could have been prevented with a $4 a month Generic Medication.

Of course you are concerned. It sounds like a neck problem. Neck problems can cause a lot of pain radiating into and down your arms, back, chest, shoulders, etc. Heart pain doesn't go away regardless of what you are doing. You need to be seen by a doctor. If you don't have insurance go to the nearest hospital Emergency Room. They have to treat you. Muscle spasms of the neck can cause excruciating pain. There are muscle relaxants, pain medications, and other meds to treat this problem. Hope this helps. Take care my friend.

could be a lot of things hun.. I've had similar symptoms before and it turned out to be gastrointestinal related. Whether its heart related or not kind of has a lot to do with the type of pain. Heart related pain is generally very sharp and sudden. I would see a doctor about it

IT could be a lot of things, bu tit doesnt present as a heart problem. Probably muscle strain. Go to the doctor to make sure.

Go to the DR. This could be serious!!!!!

I had something similar. It turned out to be a pulled muscle, so don't panic, but GET TO A DOCTOR STAT to make sure your heart is alright. Your heart has no backup, so you get these warning signs from your body you need to follow up on them right away!

go to the ER.
