Can physical activity, stress be actually detrimental to your heart?

Heart Problems (20 y/o, male)?

  • For the past 6 months or so my heart had been beating quite hard and forceful the majority of the time. I was able to constantly see my stomach pulsating and feel my heart beat and I figured that this must be from stress and anxiety. I got it checked out and when the doctor took my blood pressure, it was pretty high. I sat in a room for 5 minutes to get blood pressure readings and my blood pressure dropped quite a bit by the end of 5 minutes. I had an EKG done and I haven't gotten a call so I assume everything was fine? Recently, my heart hasn't really been pounding that much but it still comes and goes and I thought maybe I have been dealing with stress better. I have noticed, though, that my heart rate is quite fast while standing up and is probably 100+ bpm constant while on my feet (especially noticeable in the shower). But when I am laying down before going to bed, as I am currently, my heart rate gets to between 45-60 and I can barely see/feel my pulse. I am not an athlete as I get very little exercise. However, I am not really overweight (180lbs) probably due to my metabolism and bad eating habits... Sometimes (only has started recently) before bed I get nauseous or what feels like an empty stomach. A week ago, at like midnight I felt like I had an empty stomach and I hadn't eaten much during the day so I stood up to get something to eat and nearly passed out. I'm not sure if it was due to lack of food or low heart rate (bradycardia). Here's a list of my symptoms: - Very variable heart rate & pressure - Pounding heart (more forceful when anxious, nervous, stressed or during physical activity) - Light pulse and slow heart rate when laying down before bed (only noticed it a few weeks ago) - Feeling faint or dizzy (been slightly dizzy for past ~6 months really) - Nausea/empty stomach feeling before bed (Only experienced this a few times, recently) - Slight shortness of breath (not really anymore, it used to be worse a few months ago) - Slight chest pains when doing some physical exercise The symptoms don't all happen at once, they all come and go such as right now, I'm only experiencing a low heart rate and pulse (I'm in bed) and slight nausea. Please don't reply with "GO TO EMERGENCY NOW" like I see in every post about any symptoms on the internet. It's been going on for a long time. Thanks.

So whats your question? you obviously know somethings wrong with yourself so go see a doctor. if you got an EKG done ask to see the results even if you didnt get a call. sometimes doctors forget to call or your pappers get lost in the middle of things. I had the same problems as you a couple months ago. Same exact symptoms besides the chest pains when exercising. I started playing basketball for 30 minutes every day and i feel great now. However i dont know if your over weight or dont eat healthy. you said your 180 lbs but how tall are you? if your 180 and 6 foot your okay if your 180 and 5'5 you got a problem. Anyways i recommend eating healthier and atleast getting 30 minutes of mild exercise a day.

GO TO ER NOW!!! just kidding...I get most of those symptoms too, doctor said most anxiety/panic disorder. Had the EKG's blood pressures, SOB off/on, dizzy spells off/on very light headed when getting up in am and stretching, almost passing out? It might just be a form of anxiety like they tell me. but, keep an eye on your blood pressure (i got a great little machine on amazon) reduce salty foods for awhile, get some mild exercise most days of the week, keep an asprin in your pocket. If you do start to have a real heart attack (very unlikely) the asprin can save your life untill you get proffesional help.
