Why have I had sudden heart rate increase?

I want to know why I can increase my heart rate?

  • Alright so more detail: I can increase my heart rate somehow. It doesn't involve holding my breath or thinking about anything. Somehow I can just increase my heart rate, it feels like I'm tapping into my adrenal glands or something because my eyes dilate, heart rate increases, respiration inevitably increases etc.. Typical results of the sympathetic nervous system acting in response to a fight-or-flight situation. I don't know how to describe the feeling, it almost feels like my whole body is being lifted upwards. I can feel it in every part of my body. I can increase my heart rate from it's normal rate to extreme levels, as if I had just completed wind sprints or something. If anyone has any information on this I would love to have it.

Heart rate is controlled by parts of autonomic nervous system. This is not under conscious control of individual. The heart rate change is mediated through the vagus nerve(stimulation of V nerve slows the heart and inhibition increases heart rate) and circulating adrenaline/epinephrine(high level increases heart rate). In your case, some kind of thought process may be be either inhibiting the vagus nerve or raising the circulating epinephrine levels. If you really do what you claim to do, this is the only explanation. Let a medical lab test you. Who knows? You might become very famous!!!
