How can I test my pain threshold?

Next week i must have a exercies test to check my heart. But how can they find a pain there?

  • I went to the local doctor and told him i have some strange pains where my heart is.. after all he told me to go to the Cardiooulmonary where i am to about to go next week. However on the paper says they will just do a (exercies test) So my question is.. How can a (exercies test) will show exactly what is this pains im getting where the heart is? I told the doctor the pain sometimes feels like a electric pulse where the heart is.. almost as if im going ill with pain for 1 second.. and this happens sometimes.. the pain feels like my heart is hurting me. But how can a exercies test exactly shows what i have inside ? they might monitor my heart rate.. which seems normal when i touch my heart and beats normal at about 57 and im 36years old. And im slim built and i male. But how can a exercies test find out what the pain is? the pain and or a vain pain or could be a vain thats block can course such thing.. But a exercies test wont proof of what the pain at all.. So can someone please explain to me how this works? She said when i come in ill be there for about 30minutes and in my opinion putting patches on my chest area to check the rate will not explain what the pains are and that ill horrible pain i get that last 1 second at random times... Someone would be nice to help me understand this. Unless to see what the course of the pain is.. means they need to do surgery on me to look at it... patches to check the rate of the heart will not defently not show what pains im getting there... could be a vain.... or could be anything.

  • Answer:

Its called a Cardiac Stress test. Your hooked up to a cardiac monitor and EKG throught out the test also your blood pressure bp is monitored. If there is any problems with your heart it will be indicated on the monitor by the electrical activity of your heart. If you have a problem it should detect it. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

Usually, they look for where the knife is.

I don't know much about this, but I recently had a stress test / exercise test done myself. They explained to me that the patches worked together to monitor the heart. As the brain and heart send signals throughout the body, they can measure what is going on and see if there is a delay or abnormality. I think this would at least help them pinpoint the problem. Are they doing any sort of echocardiogram along with the exercise? They did a sonogram of my heart before and after they had me on a treadmill. They compared my heart at rest and then after it was put under the stress of exercise. The EKG can also tell them a lot about what is going on. It's the patches you were referring to. It can tell them if you have a bundle block or other sort of problem. It sounds like a simple procedure, but they can really tell a lot from it. I hope everything works out for you. Maybe try doing an internet search for how a EKG works and the exercise test for more details.

At 36, you cannot spell simple words like EXERCISE, VEIN, WON'T, PROVE, CARDIO-PULMONOLOGIST. Very sad. You really know nothing about any aspect of coronary care. You are going for a nuclear stress test. They insert an IV, inject a radioactive isotope, your heart muscle is examined under an x-ray, you will do the tread mill for a few minutes, again your heart will be examined. The two images are compared to show areas of the heart not receiving enough blood supply. Sounds like you already had an EKG, 10 lead quick test to record electrical activity in your heart. If the stress test is positive, they will schedule you for an angiogram, a contrast dye is inserted directly into your heart to locate blockages. If a blockage is found, an angioplasty will be done where a balloon catheter is inserted with a stent to open up the blocked arteries. It's time to educate yourself about the disease you may have. - 10 angioplasties, 13 stents, triple bypass cardiac patient and still kicking.
