What causes dizzy spells?

What causes a person to get dizzy spells during exercise?

  • I had a stress test and passed in November, my BP when checked on Aug. 16 was 164/90. My doctor recommended either 1 hour exercise of walking or equivalent 5 days per week, or go on meds. I chose the exercise, and I found that I get dizzy after about 1/2 hour, and when mowing grass behind a push mower, I get dizzy and started to get nausea. These things went away after I rested. Can high blood pressure alone cause this or is there other factors?

  • Answer:

High bp can cause the symptoms you're describing, but an underlying heart condition can also. Ask your doctor to do an EKG if he hasn't already. http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/Exercise-Electrocardiogram

My thoughts are either low blood pressure or low blood sugar.

You should get a check up! Could be low blood sugar, blood pressure, also a heart problem. Quit the exercising until you see your Dr.!

Your body is not used to being exercised so you are going to feel this way. You're not fit. Start off little by little and drink water, instead of cola. Also, don't eat when you're not hungry. You made a good choice of not going with medication. Keep doing the outdoors thing. You'll get used to it. Stretch before exercising. Stretch for a good 20 mins.

Well for one,you know u have high blood pressure. When u exercise that increases it even more. That's why you get all the symptoms you get.For one go to your local pharmacist and get something for your h.b.p.They have over the counter herbals that you can take you lower your b.p. eat plenty of bananas. People think that bananas doesn't helps. Yes it does. Diet doesn't work neither taking salt from your diet. But when u do take away your salt that''s a good think as well cuz u have h.b.p. and salt causes your heart to enlarge when u have b.p. problems. So take away the salt. Try some garlic pills that's great as well. Fish oil and a multivitamin a day.

Sometimes, yes just high blood pressure can cause this. But it could also be your lood sugars fluxuating. If you haven't already, you should call your doctor and ask about the dizzy spells, see what he thinks. :]
