Is something wrong with my monitor?

Why is my blood pressure so weird? Is it because I quit smoking or is there something wrong with the monitor?

  • My blood pressure used to be 120/60 a few years ago, and recently it has been around 135/85. So I decided to quit smoking, and about 2 weeks later my blood pressure has gone back down to 120/60. I have an at home BP monitor and am able to check it often, so when it went basicly over night I assumed the monitor was now broken, but my GF gets the same blood pressure readings off of the monitor as she does at her doctors office. So I'm a little confused, my next follow up with my own doctor is 2 months from now and I don't want to buy a another monitor, those things are expensive! So is this even possible? Can someone's blood pressure actually drop by 15mmHg just by quitting cigerrattes, or is this too good to be true?

  • Answer:

Honestly what your normal bp is is normal for you. I honestly think your safe either way smoking or not smoking. A normal bp is 120/80 so you havent really ever been to high or to low. and yes starting or quitting smoking can have a huge effect on bp. By the way props for quitting, I might need to be asking for your advise on that one lol ive been trying to quit forever. Good luck and God Bless
