How often is it safe to have a CT scan for kidney stones?

Early Warning Signs for Kidney Stones?

• I recently had kidney stones (two/three weeks ago). I went to the ER at the peak of the pain, unaware of what the issue was since I had never had them before. I had a ct scan and they found 1 stone 4 mm big. After 3 days on flomax and some painkillers I passed the stone. I have an appt. with the urologist tomorrow but I'm noticing today that I have to pee constantly. Since I felt the urge to go I'm starting to get the impression of pain in my back. I've always had back pain do to poor posture so I'm unsure if this is just a normal everyday pain or if I'm psyching myself out thinking its kidney stones. Is it possible for a stone to occur so close to the last time I had one? If I had the ct scan wouldn't they see if another stone was present? I was under the impression that it took much longer for a stone to form, so I thought the ct scan would see one if it was in there. I'm drinking as much water as possible since I felt the frequent urge to pee in hopes that I can flush it out (if a kidney stone is the case). They say preventive treatment is the best course of action for stones, how sensitive should I be to these warning signs? I'm not in a great deal of pain, but I most certainly do not want to the get the point I was at 2 weeks ago.

  "preventive treatment" is the best treatment. Did they tell you what not to eat? I didn't listen and mine came back. It is not pleasant. The pain last for hours only to just disappear later with no warning. For me I was drinking too much tea. I cut back and they are much more manageable. Hope it helps and best of luck to you. Mot
