I am 30 year old & overweight (height 5 ft and weight 83 kilogram). My weight was 63 kg 2 years ago but within one year I put up 20 kgs. Due to depression I have become lazy since last 2 years and not doing any exercise. 1 & half year ago my menses delayed for 3 months, so I went to doctor and after tests I was diagnosed with hypothyroid. Doctor prescribed Norglen, after taking it for one week, my menses was back. I underwent sonography but NO PCOS found except tht of ovary little small (but not too small) than normal size. Doctor conformed tht I do not have any ovarian cyst. Since then my menses was regular with heavy bleeding for one year. I am also taking thyronorm 50 mcg as prescribed regularly, however many times miss to take it and not following rules like not eating anything for half hour after taking it. My biological cycle is disturbed and not regular as sometime I wake up whole night and sleed whole day, or get up in afternoon. I am addicted to computer and internet and sit in front of it for 12 hours. My food habit is too not good, I eat food which contains too much carbohydrate, oil and fat and not able to eat healthy food and drink 10 cups of tea during day. I wasn't like tht earlier but suffered a big betrayal in life and lose hope in life. So as I mentioned above, since one year menstruation was regular though slight heavy bleeding, But after one year again my menses was delayed for 4 months and again went to doctor. This time I was diagnosed with Insulin resistance & Acanthosis Nigricans and again prescribed Norglen for delayed menstruation. After taking Norglen again my menses is back and since 2 months it was regular with bit heavy bleeding. But today, after one month and 5 days again I got period and I observed thick clots came out through which I came to know I am in period. But since whole day only little amount of bleeding came. Doctor also prescribed weight reduction through exercise and diet and medicine for insulin resistence which I haven't started yet. My food and lifestyle habit is as it is. Also one more thing, my gynac told me tht I am not showing any signs of PCOS, like heavy hair growth but she suggested sonography to conform which I haven't underwent yet. My hair is turning white day by day. I am also suffering from bloating and swelling of feet and ankles and legs. My feet became larger since last 2 years and it swell like pregnant women. Now the thing because of which I am in tension is tht my friend told me (she isn't doctor) tht norglen only help in bleeding and it can bring menstruation without egg release. I don't know how much this is true, my doctor said it isn't true but I m in tension. I don't understand. I am worried tht will I able to conceive in future or not. Also today I observed less bleeding, is it tht the effect of norglen is becoming less day by day. Can u tell me the side effects of norglen and pls tell me how can I get back myself as I was before 2 years. Thanks already for your answers.

Answer:
I read everything and I can barely understand what's going on. I don't know these doctor words but I see your weight has gained and you are apparently not doing anything about it by eating and being on the computer all night and sleeping in the morning to afternoon. If you want change you know what you need to change, and that is your lifestyle if you do not see this already. You seem to know what is causing you to become like the you right now, all you need to do is take action. Your eating habit is not good, too much oil and fat. Then the answer is simple, to stop eating too much oil and fat. How to avoid this is to ask yourself before you buy or stuff it in you. If you eat a steak lets say, then eat some veggies as well. If you eat veggies, eat some meat as well. Keep it balanced and don't lean on one side. You are addicted to computer by playing for 12 hours in a day. The only way(this is just one way) to avoid this is to reduce the time you use it every week and at the same time try to find something else to do which doesn't involve electronics. Lets say on week one you use computer for 12 hours. Next week start using the computer for 11:30 hours. Then next week 11 hours. So every week reduce the time by 30 minutes and continue this until you get to around 2 to 3 hours total in a day. If you can get yourself to 1 hour or 30 minutes a day then that is that, I'm proud for you. I'm also guessing this 12 hour computer is the reason why you sleep at day and stay up at night. I personally had times like this and I had hard time fixing this. The way I fixed this was to stay up all night and all day for a day. Then on that day when I pulled off the all-nighter I sleep at the right time, around 10PM or so. This should work, but if you want to continue sleeping and waking up on the proper time you got to remind yourself to sleep at 10PM or so every night and set an alarm for 7AM or so. If you don't you will end up going back to staying up the next night, leading you to the same routine as before. Other than that, if you want to feel better about yourself you should start doing simple exercise like walking outside for 5 minutes or 10 minutes. This is very easy and short, but this should be good amount for you. If you try to push yourself right from the start it's possible that you will cheat or quit very quickly. Gradually increase the exercise as time goes by, just like how I mentioned about the time you spend on the computer like above.

Hypothyroid is the cause for everything that you are feeling. Hypothyroid is really terrible and efefcts each and every part of your body mechanism (inclusing you being overweight). Therefore just keep taking the pills and once you stop taking it you will feel worse. Hypothyroid is for life. Doctors say +ve things to motivate the patient and also say +ve things about pregnancy (sayi8ng hypothyroid has nothing to do with pregnancy). But the reality is (which even they know) that the thyroid harmones has got everything to do with pregnancy and if the levels slightly fluctuate, then pregnancy becomes risky and the resultant child might be abnormal and doctors do not give permission for next pregnancy. I am telling this all with my personal fmaily experience. We live in a joint family and 3 of our aunts have hypothyroid and belive me its a terrible disorder which is highly underestimated.

This sounds strictly hormonal being influenced by your thyroid. The Dr must have seen a high sugar level to say insulin resistant. The side effects of Norglen are: Nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, mood swings, trouble sleeping, weight gain/loss, acne, breast swelling/tenderness, change in sexual interest, unwanted hair growth, or hair loss. You also have a chemical imbalance in your head. I think you know what to do. Change your diet, exercise and take a B-complex 100, a multivitamin and Vit C also find out what your sugar was and let me know on my blog.
