Is there a place I can get diabetic supplies free?

Is there a place (not on Medicare) where I can get free diabetes testing supplies?

  • I know Liberty Medical gives people on Medicare free testing supplies but I don't have Medicare - Im much too young (27). I wasn't given a prescription of any kind by my doctor to get testing strips, and they are VERY expensive! How can I afford them?? Please, if anybody know of any ways or places I can get free or very low cost supplies, I would be very thankful and appreciative!

In the source section below, I provided a link to the Contact Us page for One Touch, who makes blood sugar testing meters, test strips, and the lancet needles and lancing devices. Call them up or send them an email. Maybe they can hook you up with supplies, or point you in the right direction? I know that even though my own Dr has written prescriptions in the past that when I have had problems getting ahold of the Dr for refills (e.g. he's on vacation for a while) they've sent me free supplies to hold me over for quite a while - way longer than they had to. It wouldn't hurt to ask. Also, I see on the TV a lot the FreeStyle Meter. Whatever company that is, they give that meter (and test strips) away if you go to their website. But I think that's just a promotional offer and once you go through the few test strips they send you, you're on your own for ordering more strips, but at least the machine is free. A lot of companies will send you a free meter and a bunch of strips so you'll try their product and hopefully continue to use it, boosting their bottom line eventually. Good luck.

do you have any insurance?? go back to the doctor and ask for Rx for the testing strips. Yes, they are very expensive. Note: Liberty Medical will mess with you. Those stupid women could not get my insurance numbers correct so after 5 calls from them to try to get the numbers right I told them to go to H***!! I am not on Medicare, but do have a decent insurance. If all else fails, try a church group that has low cost to free medical clinic. Most of the time they really can help.
