What are some of the problems that Philadelphia is currently facing?

I have insulin resistance and hypothyroid and I am facing strange problems?

  • I m 30 year old woman with hypothyroid & insulin resistance. I m overweight (83 kgs). Doctor prescribed medicine like thyronorm 50 mcg wch I am taking regularly but not able to take as per rules, i.e. doctor said don t eat or drink anything for one hour after taking medicine which I am not following. I am taking tea immediately after taking medicine because actually I wake up late and get late for office so not able follow rules as per doctors suggestion. Doctor also prescribed medicine for insulin resistance which I haven t started taking yet. I feel some strange problems as mentioned below 1) My legs has become strangely fat & feet become bigger since last 2 years & all old shoes/sandles are now small. 2) Too much fat deposited around waist, thighs, and lower ab. 3) I am overweight in strange sense. i.e. there are even other fat people but I look like air is filled in my body & I feel like I look different from other fat people 4) Strange swelling in legs below knees & swelling in ankles & in feet like pregnant women 5) I am not able to sit cross legged on floor. It is usual to sit in this position while taking lunch & dinner. But ever since my weight increase and thighs become fat it is impossible to sit in this simple position. When I try to sit in this position my left leg do not go under right thigh. 6) Not able to bow down and touch head to floor while praying god in temple due to bigger lower ab 7) There seems a hump on my back below the back side of neck 8) Weakness in body as if it has no strength and always a feeling of tiredness. 9) Problem in breathing and pain in calf while climbing stairs upside. 10) Speedy Greying of hair and dull and rough skin. 12) Problem in climbing the stairs downside. Like other people of my age speedily climb down the stair but when I climb I do it slowly as I feel as if I will fall down or I have to hold the side support while climbing down unlike other who climb speedily. Sometimes if stairs are long then like normal people I am not able to climb putting one by one leg on each stair. Instead of that I have to put both legs on single stair and climb down slowly. I feel like this problem has nothing to do with my weight because I see lot other fat people do it easily then I don t understand why this happen to me. Is it a brain coordination problem or it happens due to swelling in my ankels or feet which I don t understand. 13) Numbness and tingling sensation in palms and feet esp. after waking up or sitting in cross legged on floor for longer minutes. sometimes I sleep and during sleep if my palm is pressed under my head or body then in morning when I get up I feel tingling sensation (as if ants are running inside or say feeling as if someone hitting pins or needles). Sometimes there is no sensation at all as if my palm doesn t exist. Then I have to keep palm down facing floor so that blood can reach in it and allow proper blood circulation and after few seconds it comes back to normal. Then sometimes when I get up in morning I feel there is no sensation in feet or heel or I feel tingling sensation like ants running inside it and when I put feet on floor I feel as if heels are of cotton & I cannot able to walk or stand. I have to keep feet straight facing down on floor to allow blood circulation in it and then after few seconds or a minute or two it comes back to normal. Then sometimes in temple I have to sit on floor in cross legged and if I have to sit for more than half hour in position then literally I feel tingling sensation as if ants are running and feel like I am losing sensation in it. This happens because due to fat thighs I have difficulty sitting in cross legged and as the feet remain pressed under thigh for more that 15-20 minutes then I feel like that. Then I feel to stand up and allow my feet on floor and legs strainght so that blood circulation reach in feet and again it can become normal but as so many people are sitting beside me so in front of all it can seem rude to stand up in middle so I have to bear that tingling sensation sitting but after 5 minutes it become unbearable and I feel to get up from that cross legged position. Once I allowed that tingling sensation for longer time and did not get up so due to that when I got up literally I had no sensation in heels and I fall down then after 2 minutes when I touch my heel on floor and kept my feet straight for 2-3 minutes again it became normal and I could get up then. I don t have PCOS but due to thyroid my periods got delayed and it came back to normal now when I taken norglen as prescribed by doctor. I badly want a kid in future but do I have a right to plan a Kid in such situation? If I give birth to kid will it be diabetic or have thyroid problem too? Or can it be born with birth defects. Kindly answer my questions and what are the solution for the above mentioned 13 problems. Thank you very much for spending your valuable time for reading my question.

Roohi, When I recently answered your question entitled “If I have insulin resistance, can I stop diabetes happening to me with healthy diet and exercise?” I dealt mostly with your diet. The symptoms that you outline in this question are amongst those included in the symptoms of Hypothyroidism, which as you must surely be aware, alludes to an underactive thyroid. Norglen is a brand name of norethisterone. This drug has various uses which include – use as a birth control pill to prevent pregnancy. It may also be used to treat endometriosis, a condition where abnormal growth of womb tissue causes painful, heavy or irregular periods. It can also be used to treat other menstrual disorders such as excessive bleeding during periods and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It is also used as part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in menopausal women and is used to treat breast cancer in certain patients. There are other ‘off-label’ uses which I shall not discuss here. There are various side effects that may present when using this drug. If you do not have a data sheet that should have accompanied the medication that outlines these side effects, you would be advised to ask your doctor or pharmacist for assurance that your symptoms are not connected with the use of this drug. Hyperthyroidism has a tendency to become severe in the third trimester of pregnancy, and sometimes leads to premature labour. A pregnant woman's poorly controlled hyperthyroidism can cause her to be at increased risk for miscarriage, premature labour, pre-eclampsia, stillbirth, low birth weight, and even heart failure. Diabetes complicates pregnancy in multiple ways. It negatively affects the pregnancy itself, causing an increased risk of spontaneous abortion (miscarriage), macrosomia (large sized foetus), preterm birth, and respiratory problems. It also negatively affects the health of the pregnant woman. It is very important that diabetic women maintain close contact with medical personnel before and throughout their pregnancies. The risk for a child of a parent with type 1 diabetes is lower if it is the mother — rather than the father — who has diabetes. "If the father has it, the risk is about 1 in 10 (10 percent) that his child will develop type 1 diabetes — the same as the risk to a sibling of an affected child.” On the other hand, if the mother has type 1 diabetes and is age 25 or younger when the child is born, the risk is reduced to 1 in 25 (4 percent) and if the mother is over age 25, the risk drops to 1 in 100 — virtually the same as the average American. You should also be aware that your doctor would be the only person who can properly answer these questions, as holding your medical records he may refer to them for assistance in making a diagnosis. ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE. - MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED. It is extremely important to obtain an accurate diagnosis before trying to find a cure. Many diseases and conditions share common symptoms.
