Can people with diabetes drink alcoholic beverages?
-
with diabetes type 2.

Answer:
YES, YES YES!!! this question has been answered once a week every week that this forum has been up! one or two drinks per day are ok as long as food is eaten along with the drink. Diabetics are NOT banned from any food or drink! We can have what ever we want as long as we use good sense and moderate our servings. Alcoholic beverages DO NOT send glucose up very high. It goes to the floor if it goes up a bit. Diabetes HYPO and drunkenness look alike, so eat and remember to have your friends clued in or you will wind up dead in the jail cell for drunkenness.

You can, but it would be a good idea to avoid mixed drinks that are high in sugar.

I wouldn't suggest them to drink alcohol, but if they really wanted to, they must try to stay away from alcohol that has high carbs. These include mixed drinks, beers, and some wines. Low carb drinks would include any type of shots such as vodka, tequila, etc. that has not been mixed with anything. You can look them up online. Sometimes though, even the low carb drinks can affect blood sugar because it increases the heart rate, so blood sugar should be tested more frequently. Everything should be consumed in moderation.

yes you can but you have to be very careful. maybe one a 2 weeks but you really shouldn't drink at all cause that is alot of sugar to add to your system and then if it messes with the meds soemtimes it will react different. but you can.

HI and they can but it isn't recommended. It is best to stay away from any alcohol at all. It does drive your sugar up and from what I know, that is not what you need. Good luck and peace out!

it will drive their blood sugar a lot higher.

I would say a complete no... avoid it as much as possible as they basically have loads of sugar content which can make the blood sugar level rise to quite an extent.
They can, they shouldn't. most drinks are sugary and high in calories.
