Is menstrual blood different than regular blood in your body?

Can you get an accurate result taking blood sugar from different body parts?

  • This sounds weird but i popped a pimple on my boyfriend face and it started bleeding alot! He never wanted to prick his finger to check his blood sugar so i decided to use the blood on his face. The reading was 309! Im scared for him that that could be accurate. Any ideas? Or do u have to use your finger for the right results?

  • Answer:

Why do you think he should be testing his blood sugar in the first place? Blood from a pimple is not a valid sample. Blood from the finger tip is the most accurate.

A glucose test will read high if it takes too long to get a sample into the test strip and yes, it depends on where you test from. However what happens is that some parts of the body are slow to react to the glucose levels and therefore you don't pick up on rapidly changing conditions that warrant attention. A level of 309 mg/dl is high so he should put up with a finger poke and do a proper test.

As far as I know pimple are NEVER to be "popped" to start with. Oh, by the way, I, the pronoun is always capitalized and "alot" is not a word and needs to be written as " a lot." A serious consequence other than bleeding, a lot, as happened here can be scarring. As far as the reading of blood sugar being high you should not be scared. HE NEEDS TO BE FRIGHTENED! So, why is he not asking about this? Since you with him, do you not ever notice what he is eating? And if you are eating the same foods, I would bet even money that you need to test your sugar blood level as well. Have you? I conclude that since there was a method of testing for sugar in the blood that someone has been diagnosed as diabetic. Who? Now, blood is blood no matter where it is drawn. If you were worried about differences as far as the source why did you not draw a sample from a finger? In addition, Im or im is also not recognized as correct. I am, is a contraction required to have an apostrophe (I'm) with the pronoun, again, always capitalized. By the way, the test was accurate.

Glucose readings can vary depending on what part of the body the blood is drawn from...and I've no idea if the pus of the pimple could have affected the reading or not, but 309 is VERY high, and he should check his blood glucose again, properly.
