Do cat medications stop allergies?

  • Hi, I was wondering on get some cat medicines for me (Zyrtec D) , because I get bad allergies. If i take the meds will they stop the allergies once and for all!

    I'm confused by you calling it "cat medication." If the medication is prescribed to the cat (which it could be), the dose is not going to be effective on a human. If you are taking a human-sized dose because you are allergic to cats, now we're talking. The answer is no, it will NOT cure your allergies. You will probably always be allergic to cats. The Zyrtec will reduce or eliminate your symptoms until the pill wears off, then you will have symptoms again. There are some theories about desensitizing oneself to an allergen, and trying to get rid of the allergic reaction that way. But that does not involve the use of Zyrtec, and should only be done under professional supervision.

Do you being allergic to a cat? Some antihistamines may help if you have mild symptoms. BUT nothing will help you from having these allergy reactions for the long term. All the meds only work for short periods. That is why I must take meds daily. check link to webMD. 3 pages. Other things you can do around the house. see link If you reactions are severe - Go see a Dr. If mild, try an OTC antihistamine - talk with the pharmacist - & see if it helps. Good luck.

I take zyrtec for cat allergies. It doesn;t stop the allergies once and for all though. It helps but the allergies will always be with you.
