Am I becoming Lactose Intolerant?
-
So, obviously without seeing a doctor, I won't know. Since my husband stole my military id and my insurance card, it's kinda hard to see a dr right now. Anyways I have two main questions, the first one is are you more, or less, likely to become lactose intolerant if you drink a lot of milk and have a lot of dairy products. I can go through a gallon of milk every three days sometimes. Lately, it's been about 1 1/2 a week of 2% milk. Up til last year I only drank whole milk. Milk has always* been my favorite beverage, ever since I was little. I understand that some people (well, most people) stop producing lactase(??) as they age. "Lactase" is what is used to breakdown "lactose". I turn 20 next month...can I really be becoming lactose intolerant? < that would kill me lol The reason why I ask, is bc lately I've been noticing things...the thought has occurred to me before, but I figured i was overreacting to something. It's only after I eat a big bowl of ice cream.. I mean sometimes if i drink too much milk, i'll get crampy, but everyone does. I can't drink whole milk anymore without getting sick and cramps. About six months ago (idk if it started sooner, that's just when i started payin attention) my stomach would start to make weird noises after ice cream. Not really like a growling stomach, but kinda like a sloshing sound. It's loud, and obnoxious...i don't eat much ice cream around other ppl anymore lol it doesn't do it all the time, and only in large amounts. So that's when the thought first occurred to me. Now for the disgusting part, I have had diarrhea three times in the past month in a half. I never* ever* get diarrhea. It's awful, I feel like i'm going to vomit, I have been experiencing the absolute worst pain ever! Fevers, a few weeks ago i had uncontrollable shaking. I weigh 120 lbs (so not fat) and my stomach always looks bloated lately. I know the first time I had diarrhea, last month it was awful n i was sick, but the night before i tried moonshine and i had some vodka on a verrryyy empty stomach! I decided that was what caused my very unpleasant surprise. i had a little milk, but i don't think i had ice cream. i didn't even consider dairy being at fault, til the second time, three weeks ago. i was feeling perfectly fine. got some ice cream, and n hour later started feeling sick. then about 30-45 later, i was almost screamin i was in so much pain. my leg was literally kicking. like i was shaking so bad my leg would jerk a good six inches. i really felt like i was dying. it lasted for two days. then last night it happened again. pain wasn't as bad, or maybe i'm just getting used to it. but all i had the day before was ice cream n chips. my work schedule kinda interferes with my food schedule sometimes. I did this once before, two and a half years ago. I had this unbearable pain that felt like someone was ripping me apart from the inside out, and awful constipation for like a week, n i bled. then i had diarrhea for the entire next week. tmi i know, but i'm kinda worried. i rarely have diarrhea, like maybe twice a year at the most! not three times within a month and a half.. i also can't eat as much ice cream or dairy anymore. ice cream doesn't fill me up to where i'm full, it actually feels like i had nothing to eat at all. but i'll feel like i'm going to throw up if i eat a big bowl of it. i can barely eat half a cup at marble slab. or cold stone. :( and i only eat chocolate. Anyways, if you think it's that i may be lactose intolerant, or maybe i'm crazy or there may be something else, legitimately wrong with me, please respond. Thanks :)

Answer:
don't have dairy products on an empty stomach b/c that speeds up the breakdown of milk. have you had severe diarrhea since that can cause lactose intolerance.
