Is there really going to be an ISWAK 3?

Really bad food ALLERGY still going on after 3 days?!?

  • Three days ago, my mom made her delicious Romanian stuffed peppers. You're supposed to eat them with sour cream, so I asked for some & she dug some out of the fridge. We didn't look at the expiration date, of course. Because we usually finish everything before it expires. (It was like a month & half old) Later that night, I also had some tuna & mayo. Then RIGHT before bed, I had some banana flavored oatmeal. The next morning I woke up with huge swollen fingers, & itchy legs. I took some Advil & that was it. Later that night, I ate another container of expired sour cream apparently. But of course, I didn't know it was expired. I started breaking out in hives on my legs, my butt, my back, my arm & my face. I took some Allergy Tablets & it helped. But, as of today, the reaction keeps coming back, mostly on my palms & the bottom of my feet. They itch super bad & if I keep scratching them, they kind of like spread. It gets really bad at like 4:00 in the morning, the itching wakes me up & I HAVE to go get allergy meds from the kitchen to calm it down. It appears at random times during the day & it's pure h e l l. I really think it was the sour cream that caused it, but some people say I should only be regurgitating from expired sour cream. I haven't yet. I don't hate diarrhea or anything. My throat doesn't swell up. My nose isn't runny, I'm not sneezing, my eyes aren't watery or itchy. But what could I possibly to do get through this? My mom just got a new job & we won't have insurance for another 3 months, so I know for sure we can't afford to visit a doctor. I'm thinking whatever caused this should have been out of my system by now, but I guess not. Anyway, what do you think I should do? I'm helpless. Thank you guys so much.

Get a referral to see an allergist, who will take samples and determine the cause and severity of your allergies. Avoid expired products and try to make a recording of the foods if this continues to happen. This may just have been food poisoning.

I am deadly allergic to fish yet I never was when I was young. Like you I didnt know what it was however the important thing you need to know is allergic reactions get PROGESSINGLY WORSE. First time I ate fish i got hives itch. Second time more severe symptons. Third time I had fish I was paralyzed and couldnt breathe and had to be rushed to a hospital. So you really need to find out what the hell it is. However I am pretty sure you dont have a FOOD allergy. Its more skin and you are getting mild relief from pills so I am quite positive you wont get severe. Just keep up with your pills. You should have an eppi pen? Just in case of a severe attack. Give it a day or two as it could be something viral and will go away. You will be fine just keep an eye on your symptoms like swelling or numbness.

You have food poisoning. Food poisoning may cause hives, itching, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting – which can be confused with symptoms of food allergies. From http://www.education.com/reference/article/Ref_Facts_about_Food/?page=2 : In mild cases of food allergies, treatment with antihistamines may be enough. However, when worrisome signs or symptoms occur, an allergic reaction must be treated quickly to prevent it from progressing to a more serious stage. To effectively treat an allergic reaction, you and your child must be prepared. Have medications (epinephrine and antihistamine) at hand and know how and when to use them. When your child is old enough, teach them when to take medication, as well. Be sure teachers, coaches and other adults that supervise your child are aware of her food allergies and prepared to handle a reaction. In serious reactions, an epinephrine auto-injector should be used immediately. The sooner the epinephrine is administered, the more effective it will be. Once epinephrine is administered, call 911. A serious reaction will need further treatment at the emergency room.
