What is this rash on me?

My 5 year old son has a spotty rash what could it be?

  • On tuesday my son was really sleepy. İ guessed he was just tired so İ let him sleep. He did not have a temperature on any othe symptoms. He was just sleepy. Wednesday morning he seemed much better happy and wide awake. So i took him to a play group that he goes to regually. He was fine for the first 1 &1/2 hours then he started to get sleepy again so we left early and went home. He slept most of the. Morning. By the afternoon he had a slight temperature. That evening when İ helped him undress to have a bath i discovered he was covered in a red spotty rash. The rash was on his feet, legs arms and bottom. İt was too late to take him to doctors as they were closed. So i gave him some childrens liquid periton. And kept a eye on him. İ was going to take him to doctor first thing in morning. But by morning the rash had completly gone and so had the temperature. He was fine all day. But today the rash has come back . İ phoned my doctors surgery to try and get a appointment but they said they were full and could not see him. They recommended a couple of other doctors surgeries which İ phone but each said the same that they are full and can not se my son. What should i do and what could the rash be? İm guessing that as it went away quick the first time after givi.g him periton that it is probably an alergy rash but İ can't think what he could be alergic too. İ was thinking of giving him some liquid periton again.but not sure. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Answer:

Could be an allergic reaction to something he ate, or maybe clothing. I bought a new fleece pullover and didn't wash it and got a horrible rash on my arms and chest. This was the first time this happened. So I washed the pullover twice right side out and inside out to make sure all the dye and any other chemicals were washed out and haven't had another occurance like it. I also took and over the counter antihistimine for allergy and this helped clear the rash. Being that he had a slight temperature means that his body was fighting off something. Whether it be a germ or some allergy. Monitor his condition and maybe even take a couple random temperature readings in case the rash pops up again. Make sure he's not eating any unusual foods. If the rash comes back maybe you should start keeping a list of what he's eating as a record for the doctor to rule out food allergies. If the rash comes back call the doctor again and insist on making an appointment.

I would take him as a walk in don't call just go and demand a doctor to see him. An emergency walk in or take him to an ER since no one is available.

Have you tried the glass test for menengitis? I would go to accident and emergency if the doctors refuse to see him

Telephone your doctor again and tell them that you do not think it is meningitis but you are not an expert and you are concerned, you want him seen by someone quickly and if they can not or will not make ten minutes for a sick child then should you take him to the local hospital? To be honest, it does not sound like meningitis but then, I am not a doctor and if I were. can not examine a child on line.Be a fussy mother and make the buggers do their jobs.

rub some selson blue on the rash and let it sit over night. If it acts like a sun burn and starts to come off, just do it 3 - 5 more nights and it should be gone. I have the same thing a week ago.
