Will an epipen help for a peanut allergy (no anaphylaxis?

Can I use my EpiPen on a person other than myself?

  • I just had one prescribed to me. Believe it or not, I have such a severe latex allergy that inhaling a bit of latex dust in the air from balloons landed me in the ER. Now one of the things I wonder about is how this might be used in the case of another person suffering anaphylaxis. Would I be taking on any sort of legal burden by using my own EpiPen on them? Granted, if it was necessary, the legal ramifications would not stop me. It may, however, make me more closely consider the situation before administering my own medication to them. During anaphylaxis, hesitation can kill. So this is how it becomes a delicate issue. Getting arrested for it would be bad, getting arrested unnecessarily would be worse, but letting somebody die just wouldn't be an option. Perhaps knowing the legal guidelines will help.
