How to clear blocked ears from flying?

I've got a blocked nose and blocked ears. it's not a cold. i can't equalize the pressure in my ears. help!

  • when i hold my nose and close my mouth in an attempt to equalize the pressure in my ears, there are loud crackling noises or high pitched whistles (like air being squeezed out of a small space). the second i release my nose and open my mouth i hear the air my ears close up instantly. sometimes it feels like i have fluid in my ears, as if i have been swimming and cannot get the water out. i have tried every kind of nasal decongestant or spray or sinus medication, both prescribed and over the counter, nothing has worked. i have also seen my doctor who has been unhelpful. has anyone had these or similar symptoms?

  • Answer:

Do you have ear tubes because I get that when I'm supercongested with my ear tubes? If not, I'm suggesting you get yourself to an ENT pronto because you might need ear tubes.

Allergy? Diabetes can plug up the ears. Check your blood sugar, it takes a minute.
